Barling Magna Wildlife Reserve is a wonderfully relaxing place to visit and work.
Volunteers are the reason the reserve is maintained to the high standard it is by the dedication and work they put into the reserve. Our volunteers main session is Friday mornings all year round. The volunteers have use of the restored Trumpions Barn and workshop with its own kitchen and toilet.
The work carried out is dependant on the time of year the following are a few examples
Grass cutting of main paths
Maintaining ditches to ensure water movement
Maintenance of trees, cutting of the meadow, minimal cutting back of scrub, autumn trimming of hedges
Repair of fencing, bridges, cutting and stacking fallen trees, painting and maintenance of the buildings and container
Repair and servicing of machinery and hand tools
Building and mounting of bird boxes, log stacks, notice boards and bird feeders
Preparing the site for planned visits and public events
If you can offer a few hours a week please contact us via email to [email protected]. Alternatively, you can meet the team at the reserve on Friday mornings or even pop by at a local council meeting every second Thursday of each month.
